Christopher Chand joined The Jerome Levy Forecasting Center after graduating summa cum laude from Connecticut College with a degree in economics and extensive training in Japanese. He was named a Winthrop Scholar, the college's top academic award. He received the Econometrics Award and the Ruby Turner Morris Prize for excellence in economics, along with several Japanese language awards. He also held leadership positions in several student organizations.
